Great Gardening

Gwalia Garden update

Once again, all hands were on deck bringing the Gwalia garden to life. Raised beds were filled, ready for planting. Lots of tidying of the hedgerows and borders needed to be done, as well as building a bonfire and thinning trees.

Many thanks go out again to Myddleton College who sent up a team of willing helpers; we couldn’t have done it without you!

If you have not yet been, Gwalia is in an amazing spot at the foot of Moel Famau, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The garden provides opportunities for ex-military personnel to try their hand at gardening.

Gardening provides so many health benefits, both for the body and mind. Physically, gardening keeps you active, strong and burns calories. Mentally, the combined effects of being outdoors, being absorbed in a task and watching the fruits of your labour grow, enhance wellness at every level. Add to that you will be a part of the team and enjoy it as a social activity. Plus, you may be able to eat some of what you grow! It’s a win all round.

If you would like to get involved, please let us know and we can arrange for you to visit.

Take a look at our progress.
