Ty Dewr Activities

Ty Dewr in Wrexham is a Salvation Army hostel for ex-military personnel who have found themselves homeless. Ty Dewr offers a safe, supportive environment for individuals, helping them make positive choices about their current circumstances. Their key focus is to help the transition from rough sleeping into a stable lifestyle.

Wintergreen is now running a wellbeing craft session at Ty Dewr every fortnight and assisting in the planning of the vegetable patch on the grounds. Both craft activities and gardening have benefits to mental health and wellbeing. Becoming absorbed in a hobby such as art or gardening gives the mind chance to switch off from its stressful narrative for a while, allowing the body chance to heal and recharge. Gardening also is rewarding when you see the outcome of your efforts; have a look at the beginnings of a good crop in the photos below.

Residents have also been up to Gwalia to help with the gardens and on another visit have tried their hand at metal detecting. It was a bit of a wet day for it but was enjoyed by all.
